The LeBron James versus Michael Jordan debate continues to captivate NBA fans around the globe, and Gilbert Arenas has emerged as one of the Los Angeles Lakers star's biggest advocates.

Arenas' comments during a recent "DH12 Around the Rim" podcast seemed to have triggered a large section of fans, with many irked by his latest take. The former NBA player argued that in this day and age, Jordan is only relevant when being compared to James.

"The only time people who bring him up is when LeBron James' name gets, that's the only reason Michael Jordan's name is relevant," Arenas said.

While Arenas has continued to support LeBron James, it turns out that was not always the case. A video of Arenas talking up late Kobe Bryant's game over James' has emerged on social media.

"In their prime who was better, probably Kobe. All around he's just a better player," Arenas said in the clip.

Basketball fans took to X to ridicule Arenas for his comments on the GOAT debate.

"He has become the definition of a 'Bronsexual,'" said one fan.
"I don't trust anything that comes out of his mouth," said another fan.
"He's shameless," stated another fan.
"But Kobe was never in the GOAT conversation according to 15 year olds on twitter," stated one fan.
"Rashard stay cook'N Gil on they Bron goat arguments," stated one fan.
"Gil said Kobe his favorite player but that doesn’t equal him to being better than Lebron on his show," commented another fan.

Gilbert Arenas made a name for himself with the Washington Wizards. He was a three-time All-Star and one of the league's most efficient scorers in his heyday. The former NBA guard spent 11 seasons in the NBA (2001-2012) and has played alongside some of the best players in the game, providing him insights into the nuances of the league.

Arenas has praised LeBron James for his long list of achievements, including his longevity and his attitude, at every opportunity he gets.

During an episode of "VladTV" last month, Arenas went as far as to compare the 39-year-old's game to that of well-known rapper Kanye West.

"With LeBron, it's very different. He's all-purpose," Arenas said. "Just like anything that's all-purpose, you can put different pieces and this person can adjust to it.
"Just like in the music industry, a guy who is mutli-talented, doing different things, you can never box him in.... He's d**n near a God in that sense. Because even though you cancel Kanye's music, he can go write for somebody else, he can go produce for somebody else."

James is entering his 22nd season in the NBA. He already has four championships, four league MVPs and is the NBA's all-time leader scorer.
