Since retiring as a coach, George Karl has used social media to share his thoughts on all things in and around the NBA. However, he recently called upon his followers to make a political statement against former President Donald Trump.
As he continues campaigning, Trump is set to make an appearance in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday. If Karl has his way, the Republican nominee won't end up visiting the area.
Late Monday night, George Karl posted on X (formerly Twitter) about Trump's upcoming visit to Colorado. He called on those who don't want the former President to visit Aurora to retweet his post.
Karl is just one of the many connected to the NBA who have spoken out against Trump. Some of the other notable names include Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban.
During his NBA coaching career, Karl spent a lot of time in the Colorado area. While he was the head coach for multiple franchises, his longest tenure was with the Denver Nuggets. Karl spent nearly a decade there and posted a 423-257 record.
It's been almost a decade since Karl was a head coach in the NBA. His final season was in 2016 when he went 33-49 with the Sacramento Kings.
In total, George Karl's time in the league spanned over three decades. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 2022.

After being named the nominee for the Republican party, Donald Trump has conducted two presidential debates. The way George Karl sees it, he doesn't see the former President taking the stage again before election day.
In the first debate in June, Trump went head-to-head against Joe Biden. He had a different opponent the second time around in a rare turn of events. Biden ended up dropping out of the 2024 election, and Vice President Kamala Harris became the new nominee for the Democratic Party.
On Sept. 10, Trump and Harris took the stage in Philadelphia for the second presidential debate. Many would argue that each candidate did better that night in what is likely the last time they square off before the November election.
Shortly after the September debate, George Karl re-posted a post that ask if Trump would agree to a "rematch" with Harris. Karl responded no, calling the former President a coward.
As election day gets closer, Karl continues to throw his support behind Vice President Harris.
