Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James is getting some offseason work in before the 2024-25 NBA season's training camp starts. In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, James was seen playing one-on-one with Darius Garland and former Lakers guard Talen Horton-Tucker.

With Horton-Tucker guarding him, James pulled off some moves near the baseline and took a mid-range shot. In another clip, he's seen hitting a post-fade on Garland.

The clip comes on the heels of James' rough Summer League outing, which saw him struggle to find his three-point shot at the California Classic. After the Lakers summer league team hit Las Vegas, he began to find his rhythm toward the end of the tournament.

The expectation is that Bronny James will likely receive limited playing time this season as he continues to develop. Given that, the footage of his one-on-one game with Horton-Tucker quickly circulated through the NBA community.

It didn't take long for fans to start weighing in, and many were impressed by Bronny.

"He's gonna make his daddy weak. Rookie of the Year," one wrote.
"Untouchable vs LeBron's literal offspring," another wrote.

Others praised Bronny, predicting he would make waves this season.

"It’s actually something," one wrote.
"He going to surprise a lot of people," another added.
"Bronny James Rookie Of The Year!!" one wrote.

Kenny 'The Jet' Smith defends Lakers' decision to draft Bronny James

After suffering a cardiac arrest prior to his freshman year with USC, Bronny James struggled to find his form at the NCAA level. Although he was a McDonalds All-American, James' NCAA averages left a lot to be desired.

In the NBA Draft Combine, however, James impressed scouts, posting one of the best vertical jump measurements of all participants. In addition, during the three-point shooting drill, he again impressed, leading to interest from the LA Lakers.

After much speculation, the team selected James with the 55th draft pick, sparking quite a bit of debate about whether the selection was deserved.

In an interview with RG.org, NBA vet Kenny 'The Jet' Smith said:

"I think as the 55th pick he deserved that. That means that when you're in that second round, we're waiting on you, we're waiting for you to develop. That's what that really means. And he's one of those players who is a McDonald's All-American, he was one of the top guards in his class as a freshman, that's what they're waiting on."

New Orleans Pelicans star CJ McCollum explained that as a second-round pick, Bronny's focus will be on improving behind the scenes. In addition to the coaching debut of JJ Redick, Bronny's rookie year is shaping up to be one of the biggest storylines of the season for LA.
