The LA Lakers are adding one of the best stories of the 2024 NBA preseason after closing out their slate Friday night. Quincy Olivari finished his preseason by dropping 22 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out two assists. He shot 8-of-16 from the field and 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.

The Golden State Warriors won the game, 132-74, demolishing Olivari, Bronny James, and other inexperienced players. This didn't stop the franchise from signing Olivari to a two-way deal to start his NBA career, as NBA insider Shams Charania announced on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday.

On the other end, the Purple and Gold waived center Colin Castleton.

"The Los Angeles Lakers are signing Quincy Olivari to a two-way NBA contract, his agent Darrell Comer told me and @mcten. Incredible story for the Lakers' undrafted rookie out of Xavier who earns roster spot after standout preseason. Lakers are waiving center Colin Castleton."

NBA fans reacted to this news, celebrating the extension of his stay in the league after his impressive game against the Warriors.

"From park random to fan favorite," one fan said.
"The Lakers cooked so much with this move," another fan said.
"They will know who No. 41 is," another fan said.

Some fans took credit for this move, while others said Warriors star Steph Curry inspired this move.

"Let’s gooo they read the twitter timeline last night😭😭," one fan said.

Bronny James shares his opinion on Lakers teammate Quincy Olivari

Friday night's game was a huge opportunity for some players to showcase their talents. Bronny James was one of them, but Olivari outplayed the No. 55 overall pick with his 22 points.

He was on a training camp deal entering the team's sixth and final preseason game and James was happy that they both could play at a high level.

“He's a great guy. I love playing with him. Great spirit. He plays hard all the time,” James said of Olivari, per Yahoo Sports. “So it was great that we were both given the opportunity to go out there and showcase what we can do.”

Before playing 39 minutes against the Warriors, he had made the most of the opportunity to face the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 10. He played nine minutes that day, shooting 4-of-6 from the field and 3-of-4 from deep, dropping 11 points, grabbing five rebounds, and dishing out two assists.
