LeBron James opens up about Bronny's debut

LeBron James said it was great to see his son make his Summer League debut. Bronny James shot 2-for-9 from the field and finished with four points, two assists, two rebounds and a steal in just under 22 minutes of action on Saturday.

“For me, to be able to see my son make it in the NBA alone is great,” LeBron said (per NBA.com).
“It’s always been a dream of his. For us to be side-by-side, I’m proud of him. Words are lost. I mean, the kid has worked so hard to get back to this point, so much has happened over the last year with him.”

Bronny was drafted 55th overall by the Lakers, despite being projected as a top-10 pick at one point. His draft stock fell after he suffered a cardiac arrest in college, raising concerns about his ability to play. However, he has been relatively healthy since then.

“To have this happen less than a year after the incident, to be with our friends and family when they announced his name … our family still don’t even have enough words to explain the feeling that we had," LeBron said.

Bronny missed the Lakers' second Summer League game as he is nursing “trace swelling” in his left knee, as reported by Mike Trudell.
