On Monday, the LA Lakers announced first-time head coach JJ Redick's complete coaching staff. However, Lakers fans were less than enthused, instead calling for the franchise to make a roster move amid its inactive offseason.

In late June, LA took what many consider a gamble by hiring Redick despite his lack of high-level coaching experience. The organization highlighted the former NBA sharpshooter's modern analytical approach to the game as his key selling point.

However, since hiring Redick, LA hasn't done much to improve its roster that mustered one first-round playoff win against the Denver Nuggets. After drafting Dalton Knecht and Bronny James in this year's draft, the franchise has yet to add a single player via trade or free agency. Meanwhile, it lost veterans Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince.

The Lakers' lack of offseason activity has continually frustrated their fanbase, increasing pressure on Redick to be an instant difference-maker next season. However, Redick seemingly made an effort to ease his coaching transition by pursuing experienced assistant coaches to join his bench.

LA announced Redick's final coaching staff on Monday, headlined by ex-NBA head coaches Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks. Bob Beyer, Greg St. Jean, Lindsey Harding and Beau Levesque round out his staff, with Michael Wexler serving as head video coordinator.

The news seemingly didn't alleviate Lakers fans' frustration, as they again pleaded on X/Twitter for their team to bolster its roster.

"This not going to cut it! No moves this summer. We need a big man," @pb06pilot said.
"And still no roster moves made," @Mcwrx16 said.
"Now post the free-agent signings," @BillShi35205772 said.
"Can we get a big man?" @Laker4lyfe824 said.
"Gotta add at least one veteran two-guard that is a movement-without-the-ball-style 3-point shooter to execute SET PLAYS using off-the-ball screens. Too much pressure to put on that rookie," @ddpage369 said.

JJ Redick emphasizes "player development" and "team alignment" during Lakers' coaching staff announcement

While LA hasn't made any free agency or trade acquisitions, JJ Redick appears confident in his new coaching staff's ability to maximize his squad's potential.

During the Lakers' coaching staff announcement, Redick cited his staff's emphasis on "player development" and "team alignment" entering next season.

"Through an intentional and thorough process, we've brought together an experienced, diverse and dedicated coaching staff," Redick said.
"Our goal from day one is about fostering a high-performing environment of player development and team alignment through relentless work, daily collaboration and innovation."

Outside of Dalton Knecht and Bronny James, LA has a few other young prospects who may have untapped potential. That includes its 2022 and 2023 draft picks Max Christie and Jalen Hood-Schifino.

So, if Redick gets his veteran core on the same page with increased production from his young players, perhaps the Lakers can improve through internal development. The franchise went 47-35 this past season, finishing seventh in the Western Conference.
