LA Lakers preview ahead of 2024-25 NBA season ft. LeBron James

The LA Lakers' previous season ended predictably after being handed a gentleman's sweep by the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs' first round. After finishing the regular season with a 47-35 record, the Lakers qualified for the playoffs after surviving the play-in tournament for the second straight season.

Next season, all focus will be on LeBron James who is entering the 22nd season of his career, perhaps his last. After James chose to stay with the team during the free agency, the Lakers are in a win-now mode given the limited availability of the star player.

However, they have not yet made any free-agent signings or trades in the offseason. They have the same roster that faced first-round elimination last season, except for the additions made during the 2024 NBA Draft.

The upcoming season will be interesting for the Lakers, especially James. History will be made when he takes to the court with his son Bronny for the first-of-its-kind event in NBA history. The Lakers will also be under the leadership of new coach JJ Redick, who happens to be a co-host in his podcast with James, "Mind The Game."

The Lakers must make necessary moves and acquire significant talent to support James and Anthony Davis for a championship run. With just under six more weeks to go till the start of the next season, a big move is needed for the team.
