This draft season, the Brooklyn Nets are in an unusual position: not having a pick at all in either of the two rounds. The James Harden deal in 2021 fallout keeps the Nets accountable for at least a little longer, but its effects continue to haunt the Nets' roster composition, keeping them without a first-round pick for a fourth straight season.

The Nets have their eye on the 27th overall pick, which the Minnesota Timberwolves own, Darren Wolfson said earlier this week in a podcast appearance on “Minnesota Sports with Mackey & Judd on SKOR North” (H/T NetsDaily).

The Nets have been linked to attempts to trade back into the draft, and GM Sean Marks has previously said that Brooklyn will never completely shut the door on future picks.

“I mean, they’re open minded. The Brooklyn Nets are on the lookout for a pick. The Brooklyn Nets have interest in pick 27,” Wolfson said (Timestamp - 2:45 Min)

With the New York Knicks getting a coveted wing defender Mikal Bridges, in a blockbuster deal with the Brooklyn Nets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets received multiple future round drafts in the trade.

Additionally, the Nets had been pursuing draft picks and were confident that they'd be able to acquire several 2024 first-round selections, per Ian Begley of SNY.

"A few pre-draft notes from yesterday: BKN has expressed optimism about obtaining a '24 draft pick;" said by Begley

Presumably, if the Nets had had a pick, here's a look at some players who might have fit their needs.

Brooklyn Nets Mock Draft 2024: Possible selections

#1 Kyle Filipowski (Duke)

A versatile big who stretches the floor in Filipowski. Coming off a pair of standout seasons at Duke — the six-foot-11 big man led the Blue Devils in scoring (16.4 ppg), and rebounding (8.3 RPG) this season.

He earned first-team All-ACC honors, becoming the only underclassman to do so. Filipowski was considered a possible late lottery pick and one who would not be expected to fall outside the top half of the board on draft night.

#2 Justin Edwards (Kentucky)

Edwards, a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top three players in the 2023 class, committed to Kentucky.

He started on a team with a lot of future NBA Draft picks and first-round selections, meaning he made quite the impact while also being named to an All-SEC Freshman Team.

Edwards broke out this year as a rotational player in Coach Capilari's system after struggling in the early stages of his rookie season. Over seven games, he averaged 8.8 ppg., 3.4 rpg and 0.9 apg while shooting 48.6 from the floor, including an impressive 36.5 behind the three-point arc.

#3 Kyshawn George (Miami Hurricanes)

George's talent allowed him to play at the professional level and also served as a platform for his U.S. career. He continued his college career in the United States, playing at Miami.

He was great early at college, displaying exceptional skills before becoming the top player in the class and draft. On3 and 247 Sports consider George a 3-star prospect because of his incredible talent.

It isn't a make-or-break draft night for the Brooklyn Nets this year, but certainly it's more of an important summer for the Nets front office. Key decisions need to be made regarding free agency as well as trying to acquire draft picks if they want their championship aspirations cemented.
