Tyler Cyr was recently called up by the LA Dodgers from the Minor Leagues. Born on May 5, 1993, he made his MLB debut in 2022 with the Philadelphia Phillies and has also played for the Oakland Athletics.

Cyr attended John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, California, before playing college baseball at Skyline College. He later transferred to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. In the 2015 MLB draft, Cyr was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the tenth round.

He began his professional career in the Giants’ minor league system, making his debut with the Arizona League Giants and later being promoted to the Single-A Augusta Green Jackets in the same season.

Cyr continued to progress through the Giants’ organization, playing for the High-A San Jose Giants and Double-A Richmonf Flying Squirrels in subsequent years. In 2017, he served as the closer for Richmond, earning 18 saves in 47 games.

Injuries limited Cyr’s playing time in 2018, but he returned in 2019, splitting the season between Richmond and a brief appearance with the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats.

The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing Cyr from playing that year. In 2021, he joined the Triple-A Sacramento team, pitching to a 3-0 record with a 4.91 ERA in 32 appearances.
