New York Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor showcased his incredible defensive skills once again during Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The center fielder made one of the catches of the evening, sliding in to pick the ball out of the air to get Tommy Edman out and end the second inning.

While Edman's sacrifice fly resulted in a 2-0 lead for the Dodgers, it was a neat piece of defensive play. Taylor's incredible sliding catch was one of the highlights of the game and has gone viral among MLB fans on social media.

Taylor was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2012 MLB draft and went on to make his major league debut with them in September 2019. Over the next few seasons, he broke into the Brewers lineup, recording his best season for them in 2022. However, his 2023 season was interrupted with injuries and he was traded to the New York Mets ahead of the 2024 season.

Since making the move to New York, Taylor has had a resurgence in his career and put in several impressive performances during his first year. Over the course of the regular season, he has batted .248/.299/.401 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs in 130 games for the Mets. He has been a crucial addition for the Mets and proved it once again with his sliding catch against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Francisco Lindor follows Tyrone Taylor with a backhanded catch of his own

While Taylor set the defensive standards for the New York Mets on Wednesday, shortstop Francisco Lindor followed his lead with a slick backhanded grab of his own. With the Mets trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning, Lindor's backhanded catch and swift throw to tag Mookie Betts out added yet another defensive play to the highlight reel.

Despite the impressive defensive display from the Mets, the Dodgers managed to double their lead in the top of the sixth thanks to a two-run home run from Kike Hernandez. While he was not one of their regular starters over the regular season, Hernandez's clutch performances in the postseason have grabbed headlines across the country.
