Jesse Winker is a fan favorite in Citi Field. On Wednesday, the New York Mets stunned the Philadelphia Phillies, winning the NLDS series 3-1 after they won Game 4 4-1 to continue their Cinderella run while proving doubters wrong who had tabbed them as the least favorites this postseason for the World Series.
Winker, who didn't play Game 4 but homered in a Game 3 win, made sure to embrace the Mets fan after the team advances to the NLCS, where they face the winner of the ongoing series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres.
While most of the Mets players headed to the lockerroom, Jesse Winker stayed behind, approaching someone who chanted his name. Here's the video:
It wasn't the only time; Jesse Winker has been close to Mets fans. During the 2021 season, when Winker was with the Reds, he threw a ball back to the Mets fan with a message written on it. The announcer shared that the message said:
"Love the sign. Glad the fans are back in ballpark."

The Mets claimed the postseason spot on the last day of the regular season after they beat the Atlanta Braves to deny the Arizona Diamondbacks the final Wild Card spot.
Then in the wildcard series, they stunned the favorites Braves in two games to head to the NLDS, where many thought that their Cinderella run would end. However, instead, they become the first team in the National League to qualify for the pennant series.
Winker played Games 1 and 3 of the series, earning two walks in the first and hitting a solo home run in the third.
With Phillies' Ranger Suarez on the mound, the Mets opted not to start the left-handed hitter. Winker also didn't play Game 2 since lefty Cristopher Sanchez took the mound for the Phillies.
Jesse Winker started the year with the Washington Nationals, playing 101 games where he hit .257/.374/.419 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI and 14 stolen bases. The veteran slugger was traded to the Mets at the trade deadline.
With the Mets, he has played 44 games, hitting .243.The former All-Star will like to add a World Series this season.
