The San Francisco Giants are honoring the first anniversary of LaMonte Wade Jr. hitting the 100th splash hit with an exciting bobblehead promotion, which coincides with the team being in good form. After going 7-3 in their last 10, San Francisco is second in the NL West, and there's excitement building around the franchise.
To celebrate a year having passed since Wade hit ball No. 100 into McCovey Cove, the franchise is giving away bobblehead dolls to the first 20,000 fans through the gates, and they feature water cannons.
"This bobblehead is so cool, it deserves a plug. Wade 100th splash hit… with actual operating water cannons! Sunday vs. NYY, first 20,000 fans."

Giants manager discusses impact of LaMonte Wade Jr. injury
Unfortunately for everyone involved, LaMonte Wade Jr. won't play in his bobblehead game on Sunday, as he has suffered a Grade 2 strain to his left hamstring. That's a bitter blow to the Giants, as splash hit celebrations aside, he's an important player to the team and was batting at a .333 average in 2024.
Manager Bob Melvin acknowledged that while speaking to reporters on Wednesday (via AP):
“He’s as good a left-handed hitter that there is in the league right now. And not only that — the flair for the dramatic, coming up big spots and getting big hits, as we’ve seen here for a while now. That’s going to be tough to replace.”
Wade is on the 10-day IL, and will doubtless be missed by his teammates. The Giants have a day off on Thursday, where they will try to shake off a 6-1 defeat suffered against the high-flying, 39-18 Philadelphia Phillies.
Up next for San Francisco is a tricky three-game series against the New York Yankees starting on Friday. The Yankees are 38-19 and atop the AL East, but the Giants have displayed recently that they can beat anyone on their day, which projects to be a very watchable series.
