Milwaukee Brewers fans were having fun at American Family Field with their team sitting pretty with a 2-0 lead against the New York Mets before the ninth inning in the final NL Wild Card game on Thursday.

New York Mets All-Star Pete Alonso, who was having a tough outing against the Brewers, made a clumsy effort to catch the ball in foul territory. Brewers fans sitting near the fence got a good view of Alonso's missed chance and laughed in the face of the former NL Rookie of the Year.

It all seemed going wrong for the four-time All-Star, as he was 0-3 leading up to the ninth inning. However, Alonso redeemed himself in fourth at-bat in the game in the top of the ninth inning.

With one out and two runners on base, Pete Alonso smoked Brewers reliever Devin Williams for a three-run home run to turn the game on its head. Alonso blew a chef's kiss toward the crowd while rounding the bases after his go-ahead homer.

The Mets added another run in the inning to complete a remarkable come from behind 4-2 win to eliminate the Brewers. But it was all about Pete Alonso on the night, who once again proved his worth in potentially his last season with the team.

It was Pete Alonso's first home run since September 19 and it couldn't have come at a better time. The Mets star was full of emotions after his game-saving and arguably season-saving hit.

“It’s just something you practice in the backyard as a kid,” Alonso said. “You go through those scenarios as a little kid: All right, you’re in the playoffs down by a few runs. Words can’t explain. This is just unreal.”

The Mets continue their postseason journey as they advance to the NLDS courtesy of Pete Alonso's heroics in a thrilling finale on Thursday. However, a stern challenge awaits New York as it faces the Philadelphia Phillies in the division series, starting on Saturday.
