Veteran MLB insider believes Aaron Boone bound to receive contract extension from Yankees after impressive postseason run 

Veteran MLB insider Jon Heyman is confident New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone will get a contract extension to reward him for the team's excellent postseason campaign this season. The Yankees picked up the American League East title en route to the postseason and are currently just two wins away from claiming their first AL pennant in 15 years.

The Bronx Bombers initially appointed Boone as their manager in 2018, even though he lacked any previous experience at the top level. Nevertheless, Boone enjoyed a terrific start to his managerial career, and he was handed a three-year extension to keep him at the club in 2024. However, he was under pressure to keep his job for the long term after missing out on the playoffs last season.

The Yankees were inconsistent during the regular season before putting on a strong run down the stretch to win the division title at the expense of the Baltimore Orioles. They now need just two more wins to play in their first World Series since they last lifted the trophy back in 2009.

Therefore, Heyman is confident that Boone has done enough this year to convince the Yankees hierarchy to offer him another contract extension. He shared his perspective on the matter in his column for the New York Post earlier this week.

"Aaron Boone seems likely for an extension now, with the Yankees close to making it to the World Series," Heyman said. "They were the best team in the AL, but he caught a break drawing two AL Central teams."

The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-1 in the Division Series before going on to battle the Cleveland Guardians for the AL pennant.

Successful tenure for Yankees under Aaron Boone

Although he is not regarded as a master tactician, Boone is an excellent motivator who is willing to back his players to the end. Besides, he has built a strong team environment in the clubhouse, which has earned him a lot of respect from the players.

Thus far, Boone has a 603-429 record during the regular season as Yankees manager, which gives him a .584 winning percentage. He has won three AL East titles so far and reached the playoffs in six of his seven seasons in charge, with 2023 being the only blemish. Moreover, his teams have posted 90-plus win campaigns in five of the six 162-game seasons during his time at the club.
