Monday’s game was a disappointing loss for the Philadelphia Phillies against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. The NL East leaders lost 8-4 to the Giants.

The Phillies went scoreless in the first two innings starting their 3-2 lead in the third. Kyle Schwarber hit a 404-foot homer, his 10th of the season, off Giants’ Blake Snell bringing in two runs for the team.

In the fourth inning, Edmundo Sosa hit a triple and scored a run shortly after on a wild pitch by Snell. Johan Rojas’ RBI single in the same inning brought in a run after which the Phillies bats froze unable to score any more runs.

Fans were quite frustrated after the Philadelphia Phillies' second consecutive loss and took to X/Twitter to express their disappointment:

"The lineup is atrocious," a fan said.
“Embarrassing today on the field. This team is regressing. This NL East race is starting to look like a MID off. This season is approaching a crisis point and fast if they don’t get it together,” another fan wrote.
“End the slump tomorrow! Please,” a Phillies fan said.

Several fans blamed starting pitcher Taijuan Walker for the loss, even asking for him to be designated for assignment:

"DFA Walker immediately," a comment read.
“Please for the love of God do not give us Walker and Merrifield in the same lineup ever again,” one fan said.
“Taijuan Walker is not a major league level starting pitcher,” another comment read.

The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off a series loss to the Colorado Rockies and following their recent defeat, their season record now stands at 38-17.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson addresses Taijuan Walker's performance highlighting areas for improvement

Facing the San Francisco Giants, Taijuan Walker pitched six innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on nine hits with two walks while striking out four.

Talking about his performance, Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said (via MLB.com):

“That was good, especially early, it’s just pounding the strike zone getting ahead of hitters and then as the game wore on, he got out of the strike zone a little bit. But he battled and competed as the game went on. I thought the splitter got better, it has a little more depth to it.
“Mixed his pitches for the most part he threw strikes. I think he was pretty much 90-92. Hopefully, there is velo over there as the time goes on.”

The Phillies are set to play the second game of their three-game series against the Giants on Tuesday.
