Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Freddie Freeman was absent from the team for nearly two weeks. He was tending to the health of his son, Maximus, who was battling a rare case of Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Per Mayo Clinic, Guillain-Barre syndrome is a condition in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves and can lead to paralysis. It was a scary situation for the Freeman family, but Maximus has gotten better and is expected to make a full recovery.

Freeman returned to the lineup Monday at Dodger Stadium against the Philadelphia Phillies, and it could not have been more special. He received one of the warmest welcomes the fanbase could have given him.

Roberts spoke on the special night recently on MLB Network Radio.

"That was one of the most emotional nights you'll see at a ballpark. Obviously, people know how emotional Freddie is as a person and how he wears his emotions on his sleeve," said Roberts.

Not only did Freeman receive a huge welcome from his teammates, but the fanbase in attendance made sure he knew he was loved. They could not stop cheering for him when his name was called during his first at-bat back.

"People were invested, so to see Freddie come back was really touching and I think it was therapeutic for Freddie, and it was a big moment for all of us," said Roberts.

With the energy inside the ballpark, there was no way the Dodgers were going to lose that game. They won 5-3, while Freeman ended up going 1-for-4 to knock the rust off.

Many checked in on Freddie Freeman during his time away from the Dodgers, but maybe none more than Bryce Harper. Freeman went on to explain that the slugger repeatedly reached out to make sure everything was okay.

"Bryce probably texted at least four times during the nine days, just really checking in," said Freeman.

While a fierce competitor, Harper understands there is more to this game. It is great to see the camaraderie between arguably two of the best first basemen across baseball.

Freeman's return to the Dodgers could not have been more special. His teammates, the hometown fans, and the Phillies could not have handled it any better.
