Shohei Ohtani has been able to deliver the most offensive season in the history of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Now, his seasonal performance could have reached a different level if he had been able to grab the triple crown which hasn't been done in the major league since 2012, when Miguel Cabrera did the impossible.

Ohtani recently played the last game of the regular season and came short at the plate even though the Dodgers ended up winning against the Colorado Rockies with a score of 2-1 at Coors Field. Ohtani has been leading the National League leaderboards in three aspects.

However, when it came to the number of hits, the San Diego Padres star Luis Arraez had three more hits recorded than the Dodgers designated hitter.

Then, in the stolen bases as well, Shohei Ohtani couldn't compete with Cincinnati Reds infielder Elly De La Cruz, as he has 67 stolen bases, while Ohtani could only record 59.

Besides these, Ohtani again got defeated by Arraez, when it came to the batting average.

Now, this doesn't mean that Ohtani has been in second position in other National League stats, in fact, other than these two, Ohtani has been leading every other offensive stat in the National League.

Shohei Ohtani boasts the most OPS (1.036) in the NL, sitting right above Arizona Diamondbacks player Ketel Marte.

Then, he has also found the apex in hitting the most RBIs, and he's hit 130 RBIs throughout the season, which is way more than the 112 RBIs hit by Willy Adames.

Besides this, Ohtani has already broken numerous records in the number of homes he's hit this season.

Shohei Ohtani had the Triple Crown right in front of his eyes, but couldn't grab it. However, this still doesn't undermine his stellar efforts in the 2024 season.

Shohei Ohtani's father reacts to son's astonishing feat

The LA Dodgers made it into the postseason on Thursday, and Ohtani's father, Toru Ohtani, seemed to be the happiest man alive seeing his son grow and qualify for the playoffs for the first time in his MLB career.

Toru Ohtani has seen significant change in Shohei, ever since he's been married. So, Toru believes that Ohtani's wife Mamiko Tanaka is the one who deserves much of the credit.

"Marrying Mamiko has been a major milestone for Shohei," Toru explained in an emotional speech via Marca.com. "I've noticed he's playing baseball with more composure. Without Mamiko-san, Shohei wouldn't be the player or person he is today."
