On Tuesday, the rematch of the 2022 World Series will continue as the Philadelphia Phillies prepare to take on the Houston Astros. Although it was the Astros that emerged victorious in the Fall Classic two years ago, it has been Philadelphia that has proven themselves to have the edge ever since.

Both teams entered Monday's series opener leading their respective divisions, and the ensuing game proved to be an entertaining one. After a two-run double from Houston's Shay Wittcomb, a home run from Brandon Marsh and an RBI from Nick Castellanos set the stage for a Bryce Harper RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to walk it off. The Phillies won 3-2, marking their third win in four games since October 2022.

Tuesday's game will start at 7:40 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Veteran ace Justin Verlander will start for the Astros, while Aaron Nola will get the nod for Philly.

Astros vs Phillies Prediction

Coming into Tuesday's game, both the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies maintain leads in their respective divisions. Houston has 3.5 games on the Seattle Mariners while the Phillies lead the Braves by six games.

Of late, pitching has been a particular strongsuit for Houston. Over the last two weeks, Astros' pitchers have logged a combined 2.64 ERA, which is second in baseball. Tuesday will also mark 41-year-old three time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander's second start since his return from the IL earlier this month.

At the same time, the Phillies have been crossing the plate at a high clip themselves lately. Despite ranking 21st in homers over the past fifteen days, Philadelphia has scored the sixth-most runs in baseball.
