Nick Castellanos and the Philadelphia Phillies started the second game of the NLDS on Sunday, following a 6-2 loss in the series opener against the New York Mets. The Phillies struggled early, going scoreless for the first five innings.

They started scoring in the sixth inning with Bryce Harper’s 431-foot homer, which brought in two runs. In the same inning, Nick Castellanos hit a solo home run, tying the score at 3-3.

Castellanos' older brother Ryan was also keeping an eye on the game while bartending.

Sharing a hilarious reaction to his brother’s game-tying hit, Ryan wrote:

“They say hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do but lemme tell you trying to bartend when your brother ties the game with a homer in the NLDS is not too far behind.”

Phillies' Bryson Stott hit a triple in the eighth inning bringing in two more runs for his team. J.T. Realmuto then reached on a fielder’s choice, allowing Bryson Stott to score, making it 6-4.

In the top of the ninth inning, the Mets tied the game 6-6 after Mark Vientos hit a two-run homer. However, Nick Castellanos hit a walk-off single, allowing Trea Turner to score and secure a 7-6 victory in the bottom ninth.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson reflects on Nick Castellanos' heroics

The Philadelphia Phillies crowd at Citizens Bank Park grew impatient as they watched their team struggle through scoreless innings and began booing. Nick Castellanos responded with a stellar offensive display.

Discussing his performance, Phillies manager Rob Thomson said:

“I’m so happy for him because I know there’s been a lot of talk about chase and this and that, but he can hit. He can hit. That was a big night for him.”

The Phillies will face the New York Mets again on Tuesday at Citi Field in the third game of their best-of-five series with both teams winning a game each.
