The current NFL season concluded with the premiere showcase event, the Super Bowl, on Sunday night. The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs locked horns in a tight contest that eventually went the way of the Chiefs as they beat the Eagles 38-35 at the State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

Much like every other Super Bowl, this one too garnered huge fan and media attention. The world of MLB also reacted to the game as players, insiders, and teams tweeted their reactions.

The buzz has mostly been around the Chiefs, led by their star quarterback, Patrick Maholmes, scripting an epic comeback in the fourth quarter. The Eagles were leading 27-21 at the end of the third quarter. A big turnaround in the fourth quarter on the back of some epic teamwork and a game-winning 27-yard field goal by Harrison Butker sealed the game for Kansas City.

Malhomes was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in his career, having also won the award in 2019. This was the Chiefs' third Super Bowl win in their fifth appearance. They appear to be creating a dynasty, having appeared in the mega event three times in the last four years.

MLB players and teams applauded the effort on both sides. Houston Astros' Alex Bregman congratulated both quarterbacks, Malhomes and the Eagles' Jalen Hurts, for giving each other tough competition.

The New York Mets were quick to show support for their favorite quarterback.

The Twins too were onto it, posting a picture of a younger Patrick Mahomes. A fan pointed out his ownership of the Kansas City Royals, a team present in the Twins' division.

On the other end of the spectrum, Los Angeles Angels superstar and three-time AL MVP Mike Trout was seen supporting the Eagles.

The expected controversial calls were debated at large during the game. Bryson Scott of the Philadelphia Phillies pointed out that the refs were incompetent in handling the pressure. MLB insider Jon Heyman commented on the incident where Kansas City were given a first down for an illegal hold.

Much talk was also surrounding the grass at the Statefarm Stadium, which was more slippery than usual. MLB analyst Ben Verlander commented on it.

The Super Bowl also comes with its fair share of entertainment with the Half Time show. This year it was headlined by pop queen Rihanna, who also garnered praise from Yankees manager Aaron Boone.

MLB world reacts as a new baseball season is upon us
