The Seattle Mariners have made another trade deadline splash, adding yet another proven bat to their lineup. According to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal, sources told The Athletic that the M's landed two-time All-Star Justin Turner from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for the team's No. 29 prospect RJ Schreck.

"Mariners acquire Justin Turner, source tells @TheAthletic," Rosenthal tweeted.

Building up the offense was the number one objective for the Mariners. Although Justin Turner is having a down season, he is a proven threat at the plate, and he should provide the Seattle Mariners with quality at-bats as they look to secure a playoff berth.

According to sources, Seattle will take on the remaining $6.7 million salary owed to Turner. The veteran slugger is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and has not given any indication on whether or not he will retire. Through 89 games with the Toronto Blue Jays this season, Turner has posted a .254 batting average with six home runs and 31 RBIs.

Turner will likely see time at first base for the Mariners as the team has moved on from Ty France earlier this month. Given his ability to get on base, Turner will be a valuable asset for Seattle as they lead the MLB in strikeouts.

Seattle Mariners have revamped their offense prior to the July 30 trade deadline

The addition of Justin Turner is just the latest in a busy deadline season for Seattle. Last week, the M's made a major splash when they acquired All-Star Randy Arozarena from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for prospects Brody Hopkins, Aidan Smith, and a player to be named later.

It remains to be seen if Seattle's front office is done making moves before the trade deadline. However, the acquisitions of Arozarena and Turner should go a long way toward turning the offense around.

Seattle has also made a few smaller moves over the past week, acquiring Andruw Salcedo from the Cincinnati Reds, Yimi Garcia from the Toronto Blue Jays and Rhylan Thomas from the New York Mets.
