Matt Chapman’s 414-foot homer scored two runs for his team in the sixth inning. Dodgers’ Jason Heyward hit a game-tying sacrifice fly in the ninth inning. In the same inning, Brett Wisely’s walk-off two-run home run set the final outcome of the game.

Several Dodgers fans took to X/Twitter to react to the news of their favorite team’s defeat:

“You guys have no shame,” another fan wrote.

Many more fan reactions continued pouring in, with some commenting about Wisely’s home run:

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts discusses team’s struggle while addressing Giants' performance

The San Francisco Giants offense recorded eight hits on 33 at-bats with five RBIs, two walks and seven strikeouts. Logan Webb pitched for seven innings, keeping the Dodgers to only two runs on five hits while striking out six.

Discussing their performance on the night, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said (via MLB.com):

“Traditionally, these guys [Giants] play well at home regardless of who they’re running out there. It’s a division rival. They’re sort of in and out as far as how they’re playing. But they bring their best against us. … We somehow bring out the best in every team. But that’s what we signed up for. We played an OK game, but there’s more in there, certainly.”

The Dodgers (51-32) are ranked first in the NL West, with the Giants (40-43) ranked third in the division. Both teams will face each other again on Saturday in the second game of their three-game series.
