San Diego Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar feels their hitters were responsible, rather than the Los Angeles Dodgers' pitching performance, for getting ousted from the National League Division Series by their arch-rivals. The Padres were shut out in a 2-0 defeat in front of a hostile crowd at Dodger Stadium in Game 5 as their lineup failed to cope with the dominant display from the Dodgers pitching staff.

"We did a lot of unusual things. We don't want to give credit either, you know, to their pitching. We just didn't come through," Profar said.

MLB fans offered their response to the comments from Jurickson Profar on Reddit.

The Padres squared up with their division rivals for the third time in the postseason over the past four years, and tensions boiled over during this NLDS with several controversial incidents.

The Dodgers had won the opening clash before losing the next two games. They claimed a dominant victory in Game 4 and went on to clinch the decisive Game 5 to progress into the National League Championship Series.

The Padres carried strong momentum heading into the postseason, but their wait for a maiden Word Series title continues for another year.

Jurickson Profar completes career-best season

Although the San Diego Padres had a disappointing end to 2024, Jurickson Profar will be extremely pleased with his performance over the season. The former top-ranked prospect had spent 11 seasons in the major leagues with four different franchises, failing to fulfill his potential until this year.

Profar had signed a minor league deal with the Padres for 2024 before going on to make his first All-Star Game appearance following a red-hot start to the season. The 31-year-old finished the regular season with a .280/.380/.459 slashline, along with an OPS + of 134, which included career-bests of 94 runs, 158 hits, 24 home runs and 85 RBIs.
