The Arizona Diamondbacks, after 89 wins and 73 losses with a third rank in the NL West, got eliminated from the playoffs. Recently, team owner Ken Kendrick criticized himself for a bad decision that didn't benefit the team as expected.

During an episode of 'The Burns and Gambo Show' on Tuesday, Kendrick expressed regret over signing pitcher Jordan Montgomery to a two-year, $47.5 million contract.

"Looking back, in hindsight, a horrible decision to have invested that money in a guy that performed as poorly as he did. It was our biggest mistake this season from a talent standpoint. And I'm the perpetrator of that," he said (via AP News).

MLB fans reacted to Ken Kendrick’s statement and shared their view on Reddit.

“I get taking responsibility here but dude still could be playing for them next year right? Quote makes it sound like he is terrible and won't ever play again or something,” a fan said.
“Such a mind bogglingly gross thing to say about one of your players,” another fan said.
“Probably trying to motivate him. Not a healthy way to motivate someone but boomers have a weird way of going about certain things,” another fan wrote.

Many fans reacted, with some saying Kendrick wants Montgomery to opt out of his contract.

“He has a $22.5 million player option so this dude is trying to make things so toxic Montgomery won't accept the option, but there's a slim chance that happens,” a comment reads.
“He's trying to make sure Montgomery doesn't play for them next year by not opting in to his $22.5m option, I believe,” another comment reads.
“For sure. Of course, the signing didn’t work out, but it was a reasonable enough decision at the time. It just comes with the territory,” someone wrote.
