"Harper is super"; "More votes than Shohei" - Phillies fans excited as Bryce Harper secures his All-Star Game spot as National League's 1B

Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper booked his spot in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game next month as the National League first baseman. After the first round of voting, the Phillies slugger received the highest votes in the National League while New York Yankees' Aaron Judge took the top spot in the American League.

Phillies fans were elated by Harper securing his eighth All-Star appearance, and they took to social media to celebrate:

While some fans celebrated the win for Harper, one was stunned to see him picked in the first round over Shohei Ohtani.

The MLB revealed the results of the first round of voting for the 2024 All-Star Game on Thursday, with Aaron Judge leading the league with 3,425,309 votes. Harper received the highest number of votes in the NL with 3,277,920.

As the leaders in their respective leagues, both Harper and Judge earned a place in the All-Star team while the rest will be decided after a second round of voting.

As the Philadelphia Phillies welcomed the Miami Marlins for the three-game series into the weekend, Bryce Harper recorded his 1,600th career hit in the major leagues in the first game. The Phillies slugger hit an RBI double into deep center field to reach the milestone and gave his team an early 1-0 lead in the evening.

Bryce Harper is having another excellent season for the Phillies. He is hitting .305, with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs.

While the Phillies went on to take a 3-0 lead, the Marlins fought back later in the game to complete an impressive 7-4 comeback.

Despite the defeat, Philadelphia is still top of the NL East with a 53-27 record, eight games ahead of the Atlanta Braves.
