Having started his career with the Atlanta Braves, with whom he spent twelve years, he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2022 and has been a central figure for them. Over his illustrious career, the first baseman has won the NL MVP, lifted the World Series and made eight All-Star appearances.

Freeman married his wife Chelsea in 2014 and the couple has since been blessed with three sons. Earlier this month, the family revealed that their youngest son, Maximus, is suffering from a rare nerve condition called Guillain-Barré syndrome, in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves. The three-year-old went into full-body paralysis and spent over a week in the ICU.

The Freemans have since updated everyone that Max's health has rapidly improved over the past two weeks and he is slowly getting back on his feet again.

Freddie Freeman receives standing ovation from Phillies in emotional return to action amidst son's struggles

Freddie Freeman missed eight games after the All-Star game as he tended to his son's medical condition in what was a trying ordeal for his family. The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman returned to action as his team took on the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this month and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

The Philadelphia crowd, along with the team dugout, all got to their feet as Freeman stepped up for his first at-bat of the night. The lefty went on to hit a single in the third inning and received a hug from his Phillies counterpart Bryce Harper. As the baseball world sends its best wishes to the Freeman family, they will be relieved to see Max's progress over the past month.
