The National League Gold Glove nominees at shortstop have officially been announced, and presumptive NL MVP candidate Francisco Lindor was left off the shortlist. Instead, Masyn Winn, Dansby Swanson, and Ezequiel Tovar were named as the finalists.

These three had excellent years on defense and Rawlings will reward one of them with the coveted defensive award. Lindor, who has two Gold Gloves to his name already, will not be adding the trophy to his collection.

This has some MLB fans upset, and they reacted to the nominations with a little bit of shock and disappointment.

"Come on guys, it’s crazy to omit Lindor here. He’s 3rd in UZR, 4th in fielding percentage, 2nd in defensive runs saved. Like what are you even thinking?" one asked.
"TOVAR AND WINN no way man this is so unserious," another said.
"LINDOR IS BETTER THAN 2 of the 3 FINALISTS ON THIS LIST," another yelled.
"You guys are a j o k e. Lindor has an 18 DEFENSIVE WAR higher than everyone on this list, but you left him off," one chimed in.

Lindor will presumably win some awards this offseason, but he was left off the All-Star team during the summer. Fans are now upset at what they deem to be a glaring omission in the NL Gold Glove race at the position of shortstop.

Where Francisco Lindor ranks among NL shortstops

Francisco Lindor was one of the most dependable shortstops in the National League this season. The New York Mets star is an NL MVP candidate because of his offense and defense, but his positional play was quality.

Among NL shortstops, Lindor ranks fourth in Defensive Runs Saved with two. He is behind Dansby Swanson, Ezequiel Tovar, and Masyn Winn. They were the nominees.

In Fangraphs' defensive rating, Lindor was second in the NL with 17.5. He was third in all of baseball. The star shortstop also ranked second in all of baseball behind Swanson with 16 OAA (Outs Above Average).

Finally, Lindor also finished the regular season second in the NL in UZR. In most defensive metrics, Lindor was among the league leaders.
