Year after year, Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has continued to impress baseball fans. From hitting monster home runs to being one of the top pitchers when healthy, there is seemingly nothing he cannot do.

This year has been a bit different with Ohtani being shut down from throwing. He has been used as a designated hitter this year, becoming the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases.

It has not just been fans' heads that Ohtani has turned. He has also gotten the attention of other big leaguers who are amazed by his elite talent. Jameson Taillon is one of those players. He cannot wrap his head around how Ohtani operates as a two-way player during a recent airing of the Chris Rose Rotation.

"I just don't understand, especially when he is pitching, like I just don't really understand how it works. I'm a starting pitcher, I only pitch every fifth day and my schedule is pretty full," said Taillon.

Taillon, a starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, has a pretty demanding schedule. From plyometric weighted ball work to the weight room to general arm care, there is not much time for Taillon to do anything else.

"I can't imagine doing all of that and going out and DHing and hitting 50 homers and stealing 50 bags. Like, does [Shohei Ohtani] go to hitters meetings? I don't understand how he's doing both and how it even operates, like I just don't get it," said Taillon.

Expect Shohei Ohtani to return to the mound in 2025

At various points this season, there were reports that Shohei Ohtani was throwing bullpens. Many of these were flat-ground sessions, but it is a sign of what is to come for Dodgers fans.

His progression has impressed those inside the organization, and they cannot wait for him to return to the mound. He is expected to return next season and could make the rotation much scarier.

While Ohtani could likely be used on the mound in some capacity for the postseason, the club has stood their ground. They do not want to rush him back and risk further injury.

The two-time AL MVP will be in LA for quite some time. The last thing the Dodgers want to see is him back on the IL given their championship window is wide open.
