As the MLB calender jumps to August, a number of teams recieved positive injury updates about some of their ailing stars. With the postseason rapidly approaching, the fact that a number of stars could sooner be returning to the lineup could have massive impacts on the playoffs. Here's a closer look at some of today's most notable injury updates.

MLB Injury Updates for August 1

Joe Musgrove

The San Diego Padres recieved a major injury update surrounding star pitcher Joe Musgrove. The 31-year-old pitcher is slated to begin a rehab assignment this weekend, which is a massive step toward returning to the Friars' rotation. The veteran was limited to only 49.1 innings this season before being placed on the IL with a bone spur in his pitching elbow.

Jorge Polanco

Seattle Mariners infielder Jorge Polanco was removed from Wednesday's game against the Boston Red Sox with what the team is calling "knee issues." It remains unclear what the specific problem is with Polanco's knee, however, this the second time this week that he has had to exit a game early. Polanco is currently listed as day-to-day and there is no indictation yet if he will be placed on the IL.

Brandon Nimmo

New York Mets star Brandon Nimmo was forced out for Wednesday's action after hitting a foul ball of his own foot. Although the veteran was dealing with some discomfort, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that there was nothing to worry about when it came to Nimmo's foot, stating that he could have stayed in the game if necessary.

Max Muncy

For the first time in a while, the Los Angeles Dodgers received a positive injury update regarding superstar Max Muncy. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that a "chiropractic adjustment" with his ribs has led to a breakthrough for Muncy. The All-Star has been out of action since the middle of May with an oblique strain and now it appears that he is trending the right direction.

Walker Buehler

The second Los Angeles Dodgers star to appears on today's injury updates list is Walker Buehler. The All-Star pitcher is slated to make another minor league rehab assignment on Thursday for the Oklahoma City Baseball Club.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since the middle of June with hip inflammation. Although Buehler has struggled throughout his rehab assignment so far, this is huge step in the right direction.
