J.D. Davis' brief tenure with the New York Yankees has come to an end after being released by the club. The veteran infielder was limited to only seven games with the Bronx Bombers after being traded from the Oakland Athletics to New York at the end of June.

Despite being a solid contributor earlier in his career, it has been a difficult past fews seasons for J.D. Davis. All that being said, Davis enjoyed a strong season with the San Francisco Giants last year, racking up 18 home runs and 69 RBis over 144 games. This should help him secure another opportunity with a team before the end of the regular season.

Here's a closer look at 3 potential landing spots for J.D. Davis in free agency

Tampa Bay Rays

The Tampa Bay Rays were notable sellers at the trade deadline, moving on from a number of veterans, including Randy Arozarena and Isaac Paredes. Even though they moved on from a number of stars, the Rays remain in the hunt for an AL Wild Card spot.

"J.D. Davis, 31, is a CIF with above-average power and defense. He comps similar to Yandy Diaz due to his hard contact and ability to hit line drives (sub 10 LAs this year). No options so he'll have to stay on the roster. #RaysUp #Mets" - @RBunikiewicz

Davis could be an affordable option for the Rays if they hope to bolster their infield. The team recently announced that Richie Palacios will be placed on the IL, which could force the team to get creative with its current roster. Davis could help the team with some proven veteran talent for an affordable contract.

Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins continue their push for a spot in the postseason. When healthy, the Twins lineup has proven that they can hang with the best of them, however, keeping everyone on the field has been the issue.

"The Twins can not catch a break with injuries. Jose Miranda is drilled in the head with a fastball. Exits the game. Today was just his second game back from the inured list" - @Ren_Clayton

Enter J.D. Davis who could provide the team with some quality at-bats, as well as some additional depth as the season rolls along. Given its injury issues this year, the more the merrier this year for Minnesota.

Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners made plenty of noise at the trade deadline, including acquiring the aforementioned Randy Arozarena. At this point of the season, the Mariners need to bolster their roster any way they can. Davis could provide Seattle with a flexible option off the bench, while also contributing at a number of different defensive positions.
