The road to the 2024 World Series has already started. All Wild Card series are completed as the postseason enters the divisional series phase. Several teams are touted to go deep this postseason and eventually win it all and among them includes the LA Dodgers and New York Yankees.
Moreover, there are also other teams like the New York Mets, who are big underdogs coming into the postseason after they took out the Brewers in three wild card games. Here's a closer look at who the oddsmakers feel has the best chance to win the Fall Classic this season.
2024 World Series Odds
#1. LA Dodgers (7/2)
It's another year but one thing remains the same: the Dodgers entering the postseason with one of the best odds. That has been the case for the last seven years but only once (in 2020) have they been able to satisfy the odds.
According to the oddsmakers, the Dodgers have the best odds (7/2, which means if one invests $2, they can win $7). They have Shohei Ohtani in their ranks who just posted one of the best offensive seasons MLB has ever seen.
#2. New York Yankees (7/2)
The Yankees are the most successful franchise in major league history but that success has gone dry since 2009. With so much money in their pockets, there's no such thing as rebuilding for them. And somehow yet, they haven't won the World Series since Derek Jeter & Co. won it last.
They are tied for the best odds with the Dodgers (7/2). With the likes of Aaron Judge, Gerrit Cole and Juan Soto in their ranks, chances can't be any better to emerge champions.
#3. New York Mets (25/1)
The Mets had a roller-coaster end to their regular season, with them just edging out the Arizona Diamondbacks for the final Wild Card spot. Not to mention a close 2-1 wildcard series victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. So, while the Mets are still in contention, the oddsmakers are least convinced about the Mets' prospects of winning the World Series.
The New York-based team has the worst odds (25/1). However, they have gone into stretches where they have seemed almost perfect. With Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso leading the way, this team can't be counted out.
