Neeraj Chopra is currently gearing up for an exciting showdown in the men’s javelin throw at the Diamond League Final 2024 in Brussels. After finishing fourth in the overall standings with 14 points, Chopra aims to cap off an already impressive season.

The 26-year-old Olympic silver medallist comes into the final with a season-best throw of 89.49m, which he achieved at the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League.

The competition in Brussels will be tough. Grenada’s Anderson Peters, the two-time world champion, has been in exceptional form throughout the season. Peters kicked off his campaign with a third-place finish in Doha, and since then, he has only improved.

His standout moment came in Lausanne, where he stunned the field with a massive 90.61m throw, the best of the season, securing gold ahead of Chopra. With additional wins in Zurich and Lausanne, Peters has consistently found the podium finish.

Germany's Julian Weber will be a strong threat for Neeraj Chopra in Brussels. Known for his technical finesse and calmness under pressure, Weber’s season has been marked by key performances, including a first-place finish at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet with a throw of 87.26m.

Despite finishing sixth in Paris, he remains a dangerous competitor, with a string of top-eight finishes at major championships such as the Olympics and World Championships. His consistency and ability to perform when the stakes are high will make him one to watch as the javelins fly in the final.

Czechia’s Jakub Vadlejch is another strong competitor, hungry for Diamond League success. He began his season on a high note with an 88.38m throw in Doha, placing him among the top contenders early on. Vadlejch continued to push the limits in Rome, recording an even better 88.65m throw.

However, his campaign has been one of near misses, including a fourth-place finish at the Paris Olympics, where he was just four centimetres shy of the podium. Vadlejch will be looking to convert his close calls into a big win at the Diamond League final. sound human and remove fillers.
