The alleged spoilers for One Piece chapter 1130 revealed many things, including Hajrudin's origins, while hinting at the arc's main antagonist. Loki was initially speculated to be a rather weak and cowardly giant based on his silhouette and was revealed to be one of the strongest giants to exist.

Dialogue from various characters revealed Loki had acquired a devil fruit that had been protected by the Giant Royal Family. Given the already overwhelming power level of the giants and the motivations behind Loki's character in actual mythology, it is possible that the devil fruit Loki acquired might be one of the strongest ever introduced, taking inspiration from the myths surrounding the God of Mischief, Loki.

One Piece: Loki might be one of the strongest antagonists ever

Loki was one of the earliest giants revealed in the One Piece series, with his first mention during the Whole Cake Island arc. His silhouette depicted him as a stout but relatively small giant, wearing a rather careless expression. However, his actual appearance and backstory revealed a much different character. According to dialogue, Loki was arguably the strongest giant in Elbaf, requiring the combined might of every giant in the country to restrain him.

The unrest in Elbaf stems mainly from the allegation that Loki killed his father, the King of Giants, to obtain a "legendary devil fruit." Given the stark difference between Loki's initial silhouette and actual character, along with the mythological inspiration behind "Loki," it is possible that this "legendary devil fruit" is another Mythical Zoan fruit based on the god Loki.

In actual mythology, Loki is associated with powers like transformation, illusion creation, and fire manipulation. Across different adaptations, Loki is portrayed as a trickster god who creates illusions and drives situations into chaos. Many sources also describe the mythological Loki being bound to rocks as punishment for killing Baldur, reflected in One Piece's Loki being bound to a tree for killing his father.

Given Loki's established power and cunning nature—exemplified by his calm demeanor while conversing with Luffy in chapter 1130 spoilers, it is possible that Luffy reaching out to Loki was part of Loki's plan. With his mythological inspiration as the god of mischief and illusion, Loki might be planning to trick Luffy into freeing him from his chains.

The sentiment towards the Straw Hats in Elbaf is somewhat hostile and unwelcoming compared to other islands and arcs in the story. Loki might trick Luffy, trap him with Seastone, and take Luffy's form to enact his plan for the destruction of Elbaf and the world.

Although the pairing of Loki and Thor is a common trope across different media, Thor has not been mentioned in One Piece so far. Loki has essentially assumed the role of the strongest giant and, by extension, Thor's role. Loki's power may allow him to take on the form of others, along with their abilities, making it possible for him to copy Luffy's Gear 5 mode.

The potential inspirations behind Loki and his devil fruit could make him and his powers among the strongest ever introduced in the series, especially with the ability to copy Gear 5.

Final thoughts

One Piece chapter 1130 will be officially released on October 20, 2024, and will be available for reading on Shueisha's MANGA Plus platform. Although the Elbaf arc was expected to focus on Usopp's growth, there has been no indication of a significant change in Usopp yet. However, it is still possible that Usopp will receive a considerable power-up and become the Straw Hat who defeats Loki.
