MAPPA's Zenshu anime announces January 2025 release and more with new PV

The upcoming original anime Zenshu will be released in January 2025, as per the series’ latest announcement. The announcement was made through a trailer, which was released on October 19, 2024. This trailer also gave fans a glimpse into the art style that will be implemented in the anime.

Unlike most anime titles, this is an original production. MAPPA is producing this original anime. Given the studio’s popularity, members of the anime and manga community have high hopes for the studio. The teaser trailer also revealed the main cast and staff of the anime series.

MAPPA’s Zenshu set to make a January 2025 debut

As stated earlier, Zenshu will be making its debut in January 2025. This is as per the latest trailer that was released on October 19, 2024. The trailer began with a shot of Luke Braveheart, who is one of the main actors in Hirose’s film. He is seen taking on a giant monster. The trailer also implies that he is part of a group of fighters who are attempting to fight for a good cause. The Zenshu trailer proceeded to show a short montage of his battles.

While he seems to be a seasoned fighter, he has suffered the loss of his comrades. He was forced to witness the deaths of his loved ones. This seems to be consuming him, while formless entities called Voids grow in number. Despair pervades the air as Luke Braveheart falls to his knees and clutches his hair. The trailer was revealed at the New York Comic Con. Fans can watch the episodes on Crunchyroll.

Zenshu cast, staff, and plot

Kazuki Ura will lend his voice to Luke Braveheart, while Anna Nagaase will voice Natsuko Hirose. Unio and Memmeln will be voiced by Rie Kugiyama and Minori Suzuki, respectively. Other cast members include Romi Park as Justice, Manaka Iwami as Destiny Heartwarming, Kentaro Tone as Chingosman, Masashi Yamane as Ganger, Katsuhisa Hoki as Capitan, and Sayaka Ohara as the Admiral.

Yamasaki will be directing the anime at MAPPA, while Ueno will be overseeing the script. Yukari Hashimoto will be responsible for the music composition for the anime series. Last but not least, Shuuji Takahara, Kazuko Hayakawa, and Etsuko Sumimoto will be the chief animators of the show.

The story follows Natsuko Hirose who is an avid animator. Her anime project becomes a massive hit. People started recognizing her as an up-and-coming animator with a ton of potential. However, the upcoming project is a romcom exploring the theme of first love. Since she’s never been in love, the director struggles to understand the complexities of it all. Unable to complete the storyboard, she singlehandedly halts the production process.
