Black Clover season 5 is expected to give the Jujutsu Kaisen anime a run for its money. While this claim might come true for numerous reasons, the series' sequel has a high chance of fumbling due to its narrative centered entirely on Asta. The latter series, on the other hand, gave each of its characters ample time and character development, which played a big role in its success.

Moreover, the MAPPA series also focused on explaining its power-scaling, which was comparatively more than the Studio Pierrot series.

The fifth sequel of the Studio Pierrot series might focus a little bit on the antagonists, but the overall narrative would be to see how Asta got stronger by fortifying his relationship with his devil and beating the antagonists.

Black Clover season 5 might never come close to Jujutsu Kaisen

Jujutsu Kaisen is an anime based on a manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The anime has received two seasons, and both were animated by Studio MAPPA.

Meanwhile, Black Clover is an anime based on a manga series written and illustrated by Yuki Tabata. The anime has received a single adaptation, worth 4 seasons, animated by Studio Pierrot.

Even though the MAPPA series has been renewed for a third season, the Studio Pierrot series is yet to be renewed for a fifth season even though season 4 finished almost five years ago.

However, the latter series' fandom is still optimistic about its return and is expecting it to reach heights comparable to the MAPPA series.

Where the Studio Pierrot series has the potential of reaching one of the best, it would be hard for it to reach the same level as the MAPPA series solely due to the storyline centered entirely on the character development of its protagonist, Asta.

On the other hand, the MAPPA series also does the same but doesn't forget about giving other characters ample time.

Black Clover tells the tale of Asta, a boy who has no affinity with magic, as he climbs the rank to achieve the title of the Wizard King.

On the other hand, Jujutsu Kaisen tells the tale of Itadori Yuji who discovers cursed energy and strives to help others to fulfill his grandfather's last words.

Although the former's plotline doesn't divert from what was mentioned, the latter shows other characters and gives them proper lore development throughout the series (sometimes without an interaction with the protagonist).

Megumi and Nobara's complex lives, Gojo's struggle as the strongest, and even Mahito's efforts to make others suffer, the MAPPA series had it all.

Black Clover season 5 would see the completion of the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc where the Clover and Heart Kingdom Magic Knights would unite to go against the Dark Triad of the Spade Kingdom, who would be main antagonists of the seqeul.

Even though the synopsis of this arc sounds like it would be more centered around the antagonists, the true narrative would see Asta master his anti-magic and fortify his relationship with his devil, Liebe.

So, this could be a reason why Black Clover season 5 renewal would never reach the same heights as that of the MAPPA series.

Final thoughts

Other than Asta, the series has also managed to give Yuno some spotlight but this doesn't change how the majority of the supporting characters are ignored in the series.
