AEW and WWE officials clearly keep an eye on each other for various competition-related reasons, including potential talent acquisitions. The Stamford-based company has wanted to sign a top star for a while now, and sources have just provided an update on where things stand.

Daniel Garcia's AEW future remains uncertain. The 26-year-old debuted in September 2020, then signed in October 2021. After a brief hiatus, the fan-favorite returned at All In to attack MJF, but then was defeated by The Salt Of The Earth at All Out.

AEW was aware of Garcia's potential departure for a few months as Tony Khan has wanted to re-sign the Buffalo native, and even made an offer. Officials were hopeful Garcia would re-sign, but as of one week ago he still had not. This all comes amid major interest from WWE, especially Triple H and William Regal.

Red Death's All Elite Wrestling contract is set to expire next month, but as of today he still has not re-signed, according to PWN's Cory Hays. The interest from WWE remains very high. It was noted that WWE officials are "chomping at the bit" to sign the current PWG World Champion. Triple H is hoping to sign Garcia as soon as he becomes a free agent next month if he chooses to leave AEW.

Garcia and MJF have not been seen since All Out. The latter is taking time off due to the post-match angle that saw Garcia take his rival out with a spiked piledriver. There's been a lot of social media chatter over how both of the New York natives are not on the cards for next week's Grand Slam specials from Queens, NYC.

Big matches set for AEW Collision

Saturday's AEW Collision episode will air live from the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA. The September 27 edition of Rampage will also be taped tomorrow night.

All Elite Wrestling has announced two big matches for Collision. Below is the current lineup:

  1. Hook, FTR, and The Outrunners vs. Rush, Roderick Strong, The Beast Mortos, and The Grizzled Young Veterans
  2. Bunkhouse Brawl: ROH World Tag Team Champions Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara defend against The Undisputed Kingdom

Next week's Collision will be the inaugural Grand Slam episode, which will be taped on Wednesday at Arthur Ashe Stadium with the Dynamite: Grand Slam special. Tomorrow's Collision will likely feature updates to the Grand Slam card, which currently has Hook defending the FTW Championship against Strong.
