Tonight's AEW Dynamite will feature several blockbuster matches and segments, with the show potentially being headlined by an International Championship defense. A recent update has shed some light on the contract status of Will Ospreay's opponent in that match: Daniel Garcia.

Garcia signed with All Elite Wrestling back in October 2021, exciting those who were aware of his technical wrestling ability. However, it was a stint in the Jericho Appreciation Society and a standout performance in last year's Continental Classic Tournament that launched the 25-year-old into the spotlight.

Daniel Garcia's current contract with All Elite Wrestling was rumored to be expiring later this year, and Fightful Select has now confirmed that. However, it's believed that he will stick around for the foreseeable future, and a top AEW name even believes he might have re-signed already.

Fightful noted that sources close to Garcia claim that his future plans will become clear soon.

Daniel Garcia will try to take the next step against Will Ospreay on AEW Dynamite

Will Ospreay threw everything he had at AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on Sunday, but it wasn't enough. After almost 30 minutes of hard-hitting action, Swerve walked away with his title, leaving The Aerial Assassin heartbroken.

It was Ospreay's first singles loss in All Elite Wrestling, and to avoid spiraling down, he'll have to make up for it on Dynamite tonight. His opponent is Daniel Garcia, who is looking to win his first title in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Many consider Will Ospreay one of the greatest wrestlers in the world, but coming off a devastating loss in such a grueling match, he may not be physically or mentally at 100% tonight. Garcia, meanwhile, is an acclaimed technician and is explosive enough to shock Ospreay.

Whether the 25-year-old can pull off the upset tonight in Chicago remains to be seen, but with Daniel Garcia's stock continuing to rise, many fans haven't ruled it out as a possibility.
