According to the latest report, two former All Elite champions can be stopped from immediately jumping ship to WWE by the AEW President Tony Khan regardless of their contracts expiring soon. The stars have been heavily rumored to make the jump.

The two stars in question are Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix. The Lucha Brothers have been in the Jacksonville-based promotion ever since its inception back in 2019. The duo is the former AEW World Tag Team Champion as well. Meanwhile, Penta and Fenix's contracts are reportedly expiring soon.

The Lucha Bros. have been rumored to sign with the WWE after they become free agents. Meanwhile, veteran journalist, Dave Meltzer pointed out a loophole in their contracts that could allow Tony Khan to keep the duo until next year.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio recently, Dave Meltzer noted that Tony Khan could stop both Penta and Fenix from signing with WWE in the near future by using the injury time clause in their contracts. However, it is unclear whether AEW is actually considering the option of keeping The Lucha Bros. by using the aforementioned tactic.

WWE Hall of Famer on former AEW champions reportedly joining the Stamford-based promotion

The WWE Hall of Famer and current NXT commentator Booker T also shared his thoughts on the reports of former AEW World Tag Team Champions The Lucha Brothers joining the Stamford-based promotion. Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker said that the duo should directly be put on the main roster instead of NXT:

"I love it! Bring The Lucha brothers in. Put them on the main roster. You can let them cut through NXT and stuff. Those guys are extraordinary talent. Give them a chance."
