A recent report shed light on the staggering amount AEW was spending on talent contracts. As per the rumors, All Elite Wrestling and Tony Khan were shelling out as much as $104 million in paying for its massive roster.

It's no secret that AEW has a massive roster of talent from across the globe, many of which also previously worked in WWE. This has come under the scanner, too, with many criticizing the company for having too many names who rarely get TV time.

Prominent stars like Miro, Ricky Starks, Wardlow, and more, who are also possibly well-compensated, have been conspicuously absent from TV for a long time.

Amid this, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that AEW spends astronomically on its talent roster. The promotion was noted to be spending $104 million to meet the contract demands of its athletes.

Eric Bischoff believes AEW's roster needs some trimming

On a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff criticized All Elite Wrestling for having too many names under its umbrella.

He explained an urgent need to reassess the roster and added that the company needed to let go of those talents whose contributions to its growth were minimal.

"Re-evaluate the talent roster," Bischoff said. "Get rid of the people that there's just no reason to have around. Thin out the herd, because the roster's too big and what's the harm? ... I don't know what [Tony Khan's] payroll is, but it's got to be massive with the amount of money he's paying people."

A few months back in April, Tony Khan's promotion let go of a bunch of lesser-known talents, and it remains to be seen if this becomes a norm going forward. Apart from that, Ethan Page, Shawn Spears, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, and a few others left All Elite Wrestling after their contracts expired.
