While many believed that Tony Khan's family was the sole owners of AEW, it seems like that is not the case. A recent report revealed that a big media entity owns a percentage of All Elite Wrestling.

The talks and discussions regarding the new TV deal between AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery have been going on for months. The partnership began with the company's inception in 2019 and will continue going forward as well. Apart from the TV deal, a recent report also provided an update on the company's ownership.

Speaking on the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the giant media entity, Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) owns a percentage of AEW. Meltzer also reflected on the positives of WBD sharing the profits with Tony Khan and his family:

"I’ve heard from many different people for a while that they [WBD] have a percentage. I don’t think that it’s a giant percentage but that is a part of the deal. They do own a percentage of the company. Which has been a good thing for AEW because the reality is it encourages them to give them good time slots, it encourages them to make the company profitable because they’re gonna share in the profits. It’s a good team, that deal works out." [H/T: WOR]

Wrestling veteran on WBD's influence on AEW and Tony Khan

The veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer also shed light on whether WBD has an influence on AEW programming and if they can tell Tony Khan to change something:

"They do have influence. Even though Tony has final influence, the fact is can they call him up and go, ‘Hey, we’d like to see this change?’ Do they do that? It happens, it absolutely happens and sometimes he does what they say and sometimes he fights and does what he wants." [H/T: WOR]

Moreover, the partnership between AEW and WBD will continue in the coming years. Only time will tell how fruitful the deal will be.
