Shane McMahon's name has been a hot topic in the wrestling world ever since his meeting with AEW President, Tony Khan. However, veteran writer Vince Russo doesn't believe that Vince McMahon's son will join the young promotion unless he owns a stake in it.

Shane met with Tony Khan in July, sparking rumors that he might sign with the Jacksonville-based promotion. The speculation died down quickly after Khan clarified that they were just getting to know each other, but a recent picture of McMahon with The Young Bucks sent the internet wrestling community into a frenzy again.

Vince Russo addressed the rumors on the most recent episode of BroDown. The former WWE head writer thinks that Shane O'Mac joining All Elite Wrestling is a real possibility, provided he owns a stake in the company:

"I think that's a real possibility if he has stake in it," said Russo. "He's not going to AEW unless he owns a part of it. And Mac, I'll tell you why it even makes more sense to me than it did last week because now, with this WBD deal going through with AEW, bro, you're hearing a lot of scuttlebutt that Warner Bros. Discovery may own a stake in the company. If that indeed is true, I could definitely see them wanting Shane McMahon to be part of the fold." [2:44 - 3:20]

Russo further claimed that Shane would never just work for Tony Khan and that the 54-year-old would probably have huge demands in terms of owning a stake in the promotion:

"But if anyone thinks for one second that Shane McMahon would go to AEW to work for Tony Khan, you're out of your mind. That is not happening. Owning a stake in the company? That I could see." [3:21 - 3:34]

Mercedes Mone claims AEW's roster would welcome Shane McMahon

AEW has made plenty of shocking moves in its five-year history, but signing the son of Vince McMahon would be an unprecedented coup. While it seems unlikely to happen, Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) would be very happy to see Shane O'Mac as an All Elite.

In a recent edition of her Mone Mag Newsletter, the reigning TBS Champion confirmed that she would welcome Shane McMahon to AEW, and she thinks the rest of the locker room would, as well:

"Seeing Shane's incredible heart and passion for wrestling makes me think he has a lot of unfinished business. It also makes me think is Shane coming to AEW? I'm here for it, and I'm sure our roster is too. Regardless, it just seems like Shane belongs in the wrestling business. I admit if he doesn't come back to wrestling, it will make me sad for him. I know what it's like to be removed from what you love and how sad it made me. I imagine he feels the same way."

AEW fans are split about the prospect of Shane McMahon joining the Jacksonville-based promotion, but there's no doubt that he has the experience to help out in many different areas, both on-screen and backstage.
