AEW is set to lose a top act as The Lucha Brothers are expected to sign with WWE soon. Tony Khan reportedly wanted to re-sign the duo, but they allegedly kept delaying the process. Now, a wrestling legend is accusing the company of bad-mouthing the multi-time champions with online rumors.

Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo have been with All Elite Wrestling since day one. It was recently reported that the one-time AEW World Tag Team Champions were leaving the company when their deals expired sometime this month and that they were headed to WWE. Penta and Fenix are rumored to bypass NXT.

According to Konnan, the real-life brothers are being bad-mouthed on their way out of AEW. The wrestling legend, who is close to The Lucha Brothers, discussed alleged leaked rumors on how the lucha stars are selfish, lazy, and hard to work with on the latest episode of his Keepin' It 100 podcast. He wondered if this was AEW's way of making the brothers look bad.

"You know what's funny? What's funny about this is... gee, why didn't this come out before? Why didn't we hear about this... because if you're a bad seed, you're a bad seed everywhere. They worked in TNA, MLW, AAA, and we never heard that. I think this is what the company is saying to make them look bad on their way out, to their fans. Like, 'Maybe AEW really didn't want them,' instead of, 'They got kicked to the curb,' right?" Konnan said. [From 1:42 to 2:18]

Konnan continued:

"When you look at them wrestle, they always try to steal the show, they're super over, Fenix is always injured for doing dumb s**t to try to make everybody happy. If AEW would have done more with them, they'd still be there, OK? And learn to take [losses], it's part of the business. When I couldn't use Pentagon and Fenix because [they were already booked], you didn't hear me bad-mouthing them or the company," Konnan said. [From 2:19 to 2:43]

Pentagon and Fenix apparently wrestled their final All Elite tag team match at the July 17 Rampage tapings, where they defeated Private Party. Fenix then defeated Tony Nese on the July 20 Collision episode.

AEW stars reportedly headed to WWE SmackDown

The Lucha Brothers are expected to sign with WWE soon. It was reported more than one month ago that Pentagon and Rey Fenix wanted to bypass NXT to go straight to the main roster, and sources have indicated that this request is being granted.

Sources reported last week that The Lucha Brothers are set to be a part of the SmackDown roster. This will allow them to chase the WWE Tag Team Championship, which is currently held by The Bloodline.

It remains to be seen when Pentagon and Fenix might debut for WWE, but it should be noted that the signing still has not been confirmed. It's believed that Pentagon's All Elite contract has already expired, while Fenix will see his deal expire any day now.
