A WWE veteran recently claimed that AEW CEO Tony Khan might have brought in some writers for Jon Moxley's promos after his recent return. The veteran in question is none other than Dutch Mantell.

Jon Moxley returned to AEW a couple of weeks ago and changed the direction of the Blackpool Combat Club after betraying Bryan Danielson at All Out 2024. This week on Dynamite, Moxley explained his actions in a promo package and also had an in-ring segment with Darby Allin. Mantell has an interesting take on the promos of the former WWE Champion on the show.

On his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the WWE veteran revealed his reaction to Jon Moxley's segments from this week's Dynamite. Mantell speculated that the company might have handed over Moxley's promos to its writers. He also praised the delivery of The Purveyor of Violence in the sequences.

"The first thing that hit me was somebody is [sic] writing their stuff now 'cause it went a minute and a half at least, the one in the back, may have went a little longer. I don't think he's [Jon Moxley] that good to pull it at the top of his head. Maybe, but it was well-written. But, better than that, it was well-delivered and it didn't have that hollering and screaming because he's 'Mr. Seriousness'. So, when he did that interview and the way he did it, I think was very well-executed, and my hats off to him." [1:00:00 - 1:00:50]

Dutch Mantell on Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson's plastic bag segment at AEW All Out

Jon Moxley suffocated Bryan Danielson after turning on him at AEW All Out 2024. The controversial angle invited much backlash, and many veterans gave their insights on the segment.

On the same edition of his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the former WWE manager said he wouldn't have done the angle as it could have led to an unfortunate incident. Mantell explained how Terry Funk, who was seemingly the first to perform the sequence, apologized for it.

"Well, I wouldn't have done it. I really wouldn't. But, you know somebody can go into a coma. I mean if you really did that, then from lack of oxygen they pass out. Terry Funk did that and had to apologize for it. In the earlier days of wrestling, people believed that 'They can't fake this.' (...) But all of a sudden it seems like this particular show was really hardcore," said Mantell. [From 55:33 to 56:31]

Bryan Danielson will face Nigel McGuinness at AEW Grand Slam on September 25 if he is cleared to compete. It will be interesting to see whether Jon Moxley plays a role in the ongoing story.
