AEW President Tony Khan made an unfortunate announcement on social media today. An update has been provided on a popular ROH talent who was knocked out in a match at last week's Collision.

Dalton Castle faced off against Roderick Strong on the July 13 episode of AEW Collision, with the winner set to face Mark Briscoe at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2024. Strong ultimately won the match, but it seems that Castle suffered a major injury during the bout.

Tony Khan took to X (fka Twitter) today with a grim announcement. The All Elite Chief announced that Dalton Castle would be out of action for the remainder of 2024, and his injury at last week's Collision necessitated a change in plans for Death Before Dishonor:

"Some injury news that's forced changes to the plans for this Friday's #ROHDBD Death Before Dishonor @theDALTONcastle was injured in his Saturday Night #AEWCollision bout last week vs @roderickstrong Sadly Dalton will be out of action for the remainder of 2024. Get well soon DC," wrote Khan.

It seems that Castle may have been in line for a shot at the ROH World Championship, but his injury in the match put Roderick Strong in the number-one contender's spot instead.

Dalton Castle was knocked out at AEW Collision

The nature and extent of Dalton Castle's injury is currently unclear, but it seems that something went very wrong during his match against Roderick Strong on AEW Collision last week.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Castle was knocked out in the match and was unable to answer the three-count, which necessitated an edit for the live footage:

"It was a flying knee that knocked out Dalton Castle,” Meltzer said. “He got knocked out. The referee counts one, two, held up the count because it wasn’t supposed to be the pin. Then counted three because Dalton Castle never moved and they didn’t show Dalton Castle, he was on the ground for several minutes. So, they didn’t show any of that. You could see the edit. The edit was that the referee held up the count, Dalton didn’t kick out and the referee had to count the three because Dalton wasn’t getting up."

Dalton Castle has become a fan favorite in ROH, but it looks like fans won't get to see him compete for the rest of 2024. We at Sportskeeda Wrestling wish Dalton a speedy recovery.
