Shane McMahon's meeting with AEW President Tony Khan has gripped the pro wrestling community recently, as many speculate about what this could mean. According to a WWE veteran, this could be related to the Jacksonville-based company changing ownership.
The veteran in question, Vince Russo, believes that Vince McMahon felt very insulted by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon after the two boldly announced that WWE was now in the "Paul Levesque era." Over the last few years, McMahon's name has all but been erased from the Stamford-based promotion, with the brand going to major changes.
Speaking on the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws hosted by Mac Davis, Vince Russo stated his belief that Shane had been negotiating a deal about AEW on behalf of his father:
"People think Shane McMahon is going to AEW to wrestle Darby Allin? No bro! Vince is buying the company! And Vince can't do it himself because of everything that's going on legally. Shane is just as pi**ed off as Vince McMahon at Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. That's what's going on here, but everybody is freaking blind to this except us!" [4:08 onwards]

Another WWE veteran has cautioned fans against the rumors blowing up about AEW
According to Tommy Dreamer, the meeting between Shane McMahon and Tony Khan may not lead to much.
Speaking on Busted Open, the wrestling legend explained that although these kinds of meetings can lead to massive developments, it is not always the case. Tommy Dreamer stated that fans might be blowing up the rumors to an unrealistic degree.
"Do I think they were having lunch together? Possibly lunch. There's lunch meetings, breakfast meetings, dinner meetings, just meetings, just getting to know you. I've had meetings with people and it went absolutely nowhere, 'Hey, thank you.' You also don't know what it could be about." [From 04:45 to 05:04]
