A major AEW star is reportedly eyeing to sign with WWE upon his contract expiration. However, fans believe that Tony Khan could extend the star's contract. The name in question is none other than Rey Fenix.

The Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix & Penta El Zero) are one of the best tag teams currently in AEW. They are former AEW World Tag Team Champions and have been a part of the company since 2019. However, their contracts are set to expire soon and many believe the duo is WWE-bound due to some recent rumors.

In a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that AEW has the power to extend Rey Fenix's contract up to a year due to the time he missed while injured.

Some fans believe that Tony Khan should pull a Vince McMahon-esque move and freeze Rey Fenix's contract for a year which will stop him from signing with the Stamford-based promotion.

Meanwhile, some other fans said that Tony Khan forcing Rey Fenix to stay with AEW against his will would be a pathetic move.

"That would a pathetic move if they forced him to stay," a fan stated.
"Tony will be petty. That's what it would be if WWE did it, right?" a fan tweeted.
"I heard the main reason the Lucha Bros want out of AEW is to save their body's by wrestling the very slow, boring style of WWE," another fan stated.

We will have to wait and see if Tony Khan allows Rey Fenix to leave the promotion alongside Penta El Zero.

Booker T would love to see The Lucha Brothers in WWE

Penta El Zero and Rey Fenix's AEW contracts are set to expire soon and the duo is looking to potentially move over to WWE. The decision behind the move was reportedly due to both wanting to wrestle a safer style in the squared circle.

In a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, NXT commentator Booker T praised the Lucha Brothers and called them extraordinarily talented. The veteran further expressed that he would love to see them come to the Stamford-based promotion.

"I love it! Bring the Lucha Brothers in. Put them on the main roster. You can let them cut through NXT and stuff. Those guys are extraordinary talent. Give them a chance," he said.

Penta El Zero has denied the rumors about their possible move to the Triple H-led promotion and revealed that they are still a part of AEW. It will be interesting to see how the high-flyers are booked in the Stamford-based promotion if they indeed make the switch.
