Matt Hardy recently gave specific details regarding the controversial situation featuring a top AEW star that led to his long-time suspension. The star in question is Sammy Guevara.

Jeff Hardy and The Spanish God faced off back in February in a No-Disqualification match on an episode of Rampage. During a point in the match, Guevara went for a Shooting Star Press from the top rope, but Guevara's foot ended up landing on Hardy's nose. It was later reported that Guevara was suspended for not following concussion protocols in the aftermath.

During the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, the legendary tag team star talked about the match from his point of view and how they wanted to call off the match, with Jeff now bleeding from the accidental bump he took.

"[Jeff] had this match with Sammy, and the deal happened where Sammy landed on him," Hardy said. "He was bleeding [and] they stopped it. I do know they wanted him to go straight home there."

He continued by saying that instead of going for a quick finish, he went for his finisher and then pinned Hardy. AEW did not appreciate this as he did not follow protocols, and this among other things was what led to the suspension, according to the veteran.

"They took that as Sammy was defying orders," Hardy continued. "I think [it was] that and they said there were a couple of other instances, whatever. They did — they suspended him, and it was legitimate."

AEW star Sammy Guevara won a title shortly after his return

Last month, Sammy Guevara made his return to wrestling for the first time since February, appearing on ROH to save Dustin Rhodes from The Dark Order.

This then began a partnership between the two Texans, and they would compete alongside one another on both ROH and AEW.

Two weeks ago on Collision, the duo challenged the Undisputed Kingdom for the ROH Tag Team Title. They defied the odds despite being a newly-formed tag team, as they ended the long-time reign of the champions.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Sammy Guevara as he will look to get into a singles title picture soon.
