According to recent reports, a major AEW star allegedly rejected the idea of working alongside Chris Jericho in his Learning Tree gimmick. The talent in question is Sammy Guevara.

Chris Jericho started his Learning Tree gimmick in March earlier this year after he turned heel on HOOK and acquired the AEW FTW Championship from the up-and-coming star. Big Bill and Bryan Keith are also members of the villainous professional stable. The Spanish God recently returned to action after being on a hiatus for around five months.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that Tony Khan had planned to bring him back as a heel and potentially join Chris Jericho's Learning Tree storyline. However, he didn't like the idea of working in the storyline involving the wrestling veteran.

“Yesterday I said he did not want to turn heel and that is not entirely correct. What happened was the idea they had for him on the main roster involved him being heel but he would have been fine being heel. He just didn’t want to do the idea they had for him, which presumably would have been Jericho and the Learning Tree…They probably did want him in the Learning Tree, he didn’t want to be in the Learning Tree. Whatever the deal was he was willing to go heel but the ideas they had for him on the main roster, he was not super excited to do those ideas," Alvarez stated. [H/T - RingsideNews]

AEW star Sammy Guevara returns as a babyface on ROH

When Sammy Guevara rejected the idea of joining Chris Jericho's stable, he was sent to ROH for another storyline. Last week on ROH tapings, he made his debut for AEW's sister promotion.

He debuted with a new look (wearing a suit and sporting a hair bun) and saved WWE legend Dustin Rhodes from an attack by The Dark Order.

For those who don't know, Sammy was suspended in February after he accidentally injured Jeff Hardy during their match. AEW head Tony Khan lifted his suspension two months ago.
