Fans believe Hook might leave AEW after he shared an emotional moment with his father, Taz. On the latest edition of Dynamite: Grand Slam, he retired the FTW Championship.

The FTW Championship had a great second run in AEW. First bought by Taz in ECW, it was highly important. When reintroduced in the Jacksonville-based promotion, it was majorly held by his son Hook. He had a good reign with the championship and retired it after defeating Roderick Strong at the AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.

While the title had a great lineage, many believed it had run its course and had to be retired. After announcing retirement, Hook handed the title to Taz, who was very emotional.

However, fans believe retiring the belt could have a huge reason. In April, the 25-year-old star talked about 'exploring options' once his contract expired, meaning he could be exiting the promotion. Several also stated that he should sign with WWE and be a part of NXT.

Raj Dhesi recently praised AEW star Hook

In January 2024, Raj and Tony Khan engaged in Twitter banter, during which they both took shots at the rival promotions. The former called out Hook.

While speaking on K&S Wrestlefest, Raj Dhesi claimed they were having fun and started watching him wrestle after the incident.

"When HOOK is 28-0 or 28-1 or something.' That was the thing, and I just said, 'Who the — is HOOK?' That was it… Yeah, I’m a former WWE Champion [so I should be able to get a title shot]. But then I actually started watching HOOK, and I really like his style. I like his demeanor, his style, everything about him. He’s like the next generation, right? The next generation, the next evolution of pro wrestling. HOOK is one of the best… We’re just having fun on Twitter. It’s just wrestling," he said.

It will be interesting to see what is next for the former FTW Champion.
