Rey Fenix was supposed to leave AEW and join WWE alongside his brother Penta. However, Tony Khan seemingly didn't grant him a release. Amidst this messy situation, the luchador has sent a cryptic message on social media.

Rey and Penta's AEW contract is seemingly coming short soon. They were rumored to jump ship to WWE. Even the Stamford-based promotion had its eyes set on acquiring the Lucha Brothers.

However, both luchadors had injury time added to their contracts, thereby extending their stay with AEW. Rey's injury time is a bit longer than Penta's, so it will be a while before the fans see them leave the Jacksonville-based promotion.

It is clear that The Man of a Thousand Lives is not happy with his situation in AEW and has seemingly hinted at his dissatisfaction with Tony Khan and his company through a cryptic post on Instagram:

"No one can stop a man who was born with a purpose, close the doors and windows, I will destroy the house. I’m at a new level! 👁️AN1M0 #Animo #MexaKing," he wrote on IG.

Why did Tony Khan add injury time to Rey Fenix's contract?

Last week, WrestlePurists released a report that delved into the reason why Tony Khan added injury time to Rey Fenix's contract. According to the report, the AEW head found out about WWE's rumored plans for The Lucha Bros on SmackDown, which led him to take this course of action.

"Tony [Khan] likes Rey Fenix. He’s always liked and respected Rey Fenix. He just felt that if he let this thing slide, other people were going to start taking advantage of him, and it was going to lead to a dam breaking. So they’re f**ked, and Penta has another month, I believe, and Fenix has nine-10 [more months]. Tony found out what the plan was for them on SmackDown, by the way, and that also informed this," the report stated.

Fenix started working for AEW in 2019. He is a former AEW International Champion, World Tag Team Champion, and World Trios Champion.
